Program

Chant Theory and the Guidonian

Come learn the fundamentals of chant theory (yes, we are talking about hexachords!) and discover the memory tool that helped young medieval scholars map melodies onto their hands. No prior experience is necessary, though some basic familiarity with music reading may be helpful. Singers of all ability levels are welcome, as are those who simply wish to observe.

MuckAbout with °Õ°ù´Ç²úá°ù!

Each month °Õ°ù´Ç²úá°ù hosts free community-building events where all are invited to participate in merry-making, music-making, and adjacent activities! Guest instructors are frequently brought in to introduce a wide variety of subjects. No previous experience is necessary to participate, only a willingness to try something new!

Venue

The Haven Lounge (Haydn Hall, Room 100) is a multi-use space where Department of Music students, faculty, and staff can relax, socialize, and study. The lounge is also available by reservation for special events, rehearsals, or practice after hours.

Guests will enjoy viewing historical photographs of The Haven when it served as the main dining and social hall for Haydn Hall, alongside posters from past Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Annual Music Master Series.
