Whether members of the 杏吧视频 community knew Pete Babic personally or not, they鈥檝e likely interacted with a key part of his work. As an applications developer in University Technology, Babic developed and managed the Software Center.
This week, University Technology staff and members of the campus community are remembering Babic鈥檚 life after he passed away Nov. 24 at age 60.
Babic had been at the university for more than 30 years. His primary responsibility was the Software Center鈥攅nsuring students, faculty and staff had access to all of the products the university offered.
He also played a key part in the enterprise implementation of Box in order to help facilitate the university鈥檚 use of the digital storage solution.
鈥淧ete was always willing to help and to try new things,鈥 said Lisa Previte, Babic鈥檚 manager and associate director of the Enterprise Content Management Team. 鈥淗e was always flexible with people.鈥
His colleagues remembered Babic for his fun-loving nature and passion for skiing and his boat, which is where he spent much of his spare time in the summer.
And whenever there was a new ride at Cedar Point, Babic was in line to try it out, recalled Mike Yeager, an analyst programmer for systems support.
鈥淚 think Pete would want to be remembered for being fun, always having a smile on his face and enjoying life,鈥 Previte said.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, from noon to 1 p.m. at Behm Family Funeral Home (26 River St., Madison, Ohio). A funeral will follow at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seidman Cancer Center (P.O. Box 94554 Cleveland, OH 44101).
