The Professional Development Center hosts training sessions for �Ӱ���Ƶ staff and faculty on a wide range of topics. In February, the center will continue its series on emotional intelligence and management development. Emotional Intelligence Series

Two sessions of the Emotional Intelligence Series will be held in February.

Part III: "Understanding Emotions"

Feb. 6 9 a.m. to noon In this session, participants will learn how emotions affect and influence what we think about and how. Being able to harness that information has shown to be an important element of performance. Participants will explore how emotions evolve over time, and develop an emotional vocabulary.

Part IV: “Managing Emotions”

Feb. 20 9 a.m. to noon Participants will explore how they can manage various emotional states for increased effectiveness.

Management Development Series

The Management Development Series will have two sessions in February.

Part III: "Creating a Motivating Environment"

Feb. 14 9 a.m. to noon Motivated employees are more productive, effective and satisfied in their roles. While managers cannot directly motivate people, they can create environments in which people are more likely to be motivated. In this three-hour course, participants will learn about some of the research behind motivation, what actually motivates people, and how they can communicate most effectively with different DiSC styles to create an environment that is motivating to employees.

Part IV: “Strategy & Developing Others"

Feb. 28 9 a.m. to noon Our people are our most valuable resource, and it's important that we develop them so that they are prepared for whatever comes next. In this three-hour course, participants will learn why it's important to develop their people, how it should align with their broader strategic mission and vision, and how to tailor how they approach development to different DiSC styles.
