College of Arts and Sciences' Peter Whiting says late-summer chill in Cleveland linked to northern airflow and dry air
cleveland.com: Peter Whiting, director of the Environmental Studies Program and professor of earth, environmental and planetary sciences at the College of Arts and Sciences, weighed in on the recent cool temperatures in Cleveland. "We are in an upper airflow pattern that has been bringing literally cooler air down from the north," he said, also noting that the drier air means that nighttime temperatures can drop lower, which has added to the chill.
