Complete new training requirement for grants

ӰƵ will require research security training for all senior and key personnel on new federal grant applications, competitive renewals, or research performance progress reports (RPPRs), effective Oct. 1.

The training must be completed by that date or by the time of proposal submission.

This training must be completed annually and fulfills the and .

Senior and key personnel on externally-funded projects—regardless of funding source—must complete this training by Dec. 31. 

At ӰƵ, senior and key personnel are defined as:

  • Individuals who participate in the design, planning and conduct of a research project; and,
  • Those designated as financial conflict of interest investigators in SpartaGrants.

ӰƵ offers the hour-long training—titled “Research Security Training (Combined)”—through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program.

CWRU’s Research Security Programs office will maintain a list of those who have completed the training. 

Principal investigators (PI) must ensure that all senior and key personnel on their proposal complete the training and will be required to attest to required personnel’s completion of training when submitting a proposal in SpartaGrants.
