In November, Dhamakapella placed first at Jeena 2017, an a cappella competition hosted by the University of Texas at Austin.
The group went up against teams from Texas A&M, University of Miami, University of California, Davis, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Carnegie Mellon University.
For finishing in first place, the team was awarded $1,250.
In addition to the placement, Madhav Nandan received the award for “Outstanding Male Soloist” and Shaunak Roy received the award for “Outstanding Musical Arrangement.”
