The 杏吧视频 Faculty Senate Committee on Women released a call for the protection of women faculty and staff during COVID-19. The statement is titled 鈥淣eed for Gender-Equitable Response Measures to COVID-19.鈥 The statement notes that women are being disproportionately and adversely affected during the coronavirus shutdown as compared to their male colleagues, including:
- Disproportionate responsibility for child and elder care;
- Increases in daily household responsibilities; and
- Less time and flexibility to dedicate to manuscript preparation, journal submissions, grant applications, and tenure clock requirements.
While recognizing efforts by CWRU to extend pre-tenure deadlines, the committee asked for additional protections for women faculty and staff.
