The 2017-18 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series continues with an appearance by novelist Maria Semple. The event will take place Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at The Temple – Tifereth Israel.
Best-selling author Maria Semple has written three novels, including Where’d You Go, Bernadette, which spent a year on The New York Times best-seller list and won the American Library Association’s Alex Award.
She began her career as a screenwriter for such successful television shows as Beverly Hills, 90210; Saturday Night Live; and Ellen. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her work on the series Mad About You, and for a Writers Guild of America Award for her work on Arrested Development. Her latest novel is Today Will Be Different.
A limited number of free student tickets will be available in person beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Students can show their ÐÓ°ÉÊÓÆµ ID at the Tinkham Veale University Center’s first floor information desk to obtain a ticket to that evening’s event.
In addition, students can participate in a personal dialogue with the author Wednesday, March 21, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Tinkham Veale University Center Senior Classroom.
