Hear from NASA engineers at upcoming lecture, film screening

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Physics and Astronomy Club will sponsor a lecture with NASA engineer Matt Melis Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12:30 p.m. in the Millis Schmitt Auditorium. Melis will talk about the Space Shuttle Columbia accident in 2003, and his role in the investigation. Presented in conjunction with the lecture, the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ Film Society will sponsor a showing of Ascent: Commemorating Shuttle Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. in Strosacker Auditorium. Melis and Kevin Burke, another NASA engineer, produced the film, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at shuttle launches. Melis and Burke also will answer audience questions after the showing. Both events are free and open to the public.
