On Oct. 19, , associate professor of Japanese and associate director of College Scholars, was invited to speak at the University of Miami in conjunction with a showing of the award-winning Catalan-language film Pa Negre (Black Bread, 2011) directed by Augustà Villaronga. Her talk was titled "Pa Negre and the Spanish Civil War on Film."
The event was co-sponsored by the Norton Herrick Center for Motion Picture Studies, the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures, the Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of Cinema and Interactive Media at the University of Miami.
