Wired: Lindsay Malone, clinical dietitian and instructor at the School of Medicine, said most people already get enough electrolytes from a balanced diet, so daily electrolyte drinks aren’t necessary. They’re most useful after heavy sweating, illness or intense exercise in hot weather, but plain water should remain the go-to for everyday hydration.
