The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity Power of Diversity Lecture Series introduces its new Viewpoint Forum. The first forum, featuring Avery Friedman and Peter Kirsanow, will be a discussion titled "The Future of Affirmative Action in Higher Education: Where Do We Go From Here?"
The event will take place Tuesday, Oct. 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Thwing Center’ s 1914 Lounge.
Viewpoint Forums will be campuswide events to explore and discuss divergent viewpoints on topics of critical concern.
Friedman is a nationally known civil rights lawyer and law professor. He has been a CNN legal analyst for the past 12 years. Friedman also has appeared as a civil and constitutional rights expert before the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives.
Kirsanow is a labor and employment lawyer and partner with Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP in Cleveland. Appointed by President George W. Bush, Kirsanow is a former member of the National Labor Relations Board. He testifies before and advises federal lawmakers on employment law matters.
