ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ’s Spartan Triathlon Club participated in its inaugural race Sunday, Sept. 13, at Portage Lakes, just outside of Akron.
A triathlon combines swimming, biking and running. Team members participated in the Olympic distance (47 miles) and the sprint distance (just more than 17 miles).
Participants were:
- Todd Siwik,
- Ryan Curry,
- David Scannapieco,
- Christian Nguyen,
- Jessica LaLonde,
- Andrew Zapor and
- Jodie Makara.
- Curry received first in his age group in the Olympic distance;
- Scannapieco and Nguyen came in second in their age groups in the Olympic distance;
- LaLonde and Zapor finished in second in their age groups in the sprint distance; and
- Makara got third in her age group in the sprint distance.
