With a long history and background in recruitment and student affairs, Pierra Heard knew that it was a perfect fit when she joined 杏吧视频 School of Medicine's Enrollment Management & Strategic Initiatives office in April.
As the assistant director of enrollment management, she works closely to develop and support recruitment and retention initiatives for the Department of Nutrition, as well as the Public Health Nutrition, Systems Biology and Bioinformatics (SYBB) and Post-baccalaureate Readiness Instruction for bioMedical Education (PRIME) programs. She also serves as the new resource for the North Star Award, McNair Scholars and the National Name Exchange within the School of Medicine.
Her family includes her three-year-old daughter, Pace, and three dogs鈥攁 Shorkie and two American Bullies.
鈥淚 have my hands full, but I love a challenge, so I wouldn鈥檛 have it any other way,鈥 said Pierra.
A Cleveland native, Pierra moved to Tampa, Florida, shortly after graduating from Hiram College and is excited to now be back in Cleveland. She seeks out new adventures and road trips with her daughter and family in her spare time.
Pierra is also the founder of , a social platform that provides support and resources to 5,000+ mothers to help further their educational and social goals. Initiatives to support mothers have included holding the Mommyhood Expo, which brought 150 traveling moms to Cleveland for networking, workshops, bonding, and giving back to the city by donating 215 fully loaded backpacks to students in need all over Cleveland. Pierra鈥檚 work as an entrepreneur was recently featured in an article in .
鈥淚 love giving back to my community, and I look forward to being able to partner with 杏吧视频 in changing the lives of our students, as well as lives in Cleveland,鈥 she said.
