Photo by Jane Sobel Klonsky The 2017-18 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series concludes Tuesday, May 8, with an appearance by John Irving. A limited number of free student tickets will be available in person beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the event. Students can show their ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ ID at the Tinkham Veale University Center’s first-floor information desk to obtain a ticket to that evening’s event. The event will take place Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Milton and Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center at The Temple – Tifereth Israel. A free shuttle will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. to transport ticketed guests to the Maltz Performing Arts Center. Shuttles depart from the Tinkham Veale University Center Linsalata Entrance (Bellflower Road), and return shuttles leave from the Maltz Performing Arts Center at the conclusion of the lecture. The event will conclude with an announcement of the speaker lineup for the 2018-19 William N. Skirball Writers Center Stage Series.

About the speaker

Irving is one of the literary world’s most popular and respected writers. He is the author of 14 novels, including the international best-seller The World According to Garp, for which he won the National Book Award; A Prayer for Owen Meany; A Son of the Circus; and The Cider House Rules, which was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. His latest novel, Avenue of Mysteries, is a New York Times best-seller. In 2001, Irving was elected into the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
