Sexual Assault and Violence Educators (SAVE) will host Voices Against Violence, a speak-out event against domestic and intimate partner violence Thursday, Oct. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Thwing Center atrium.
The event aims to empower people to share their experiences with this type of violence and to encourage a community that is more supportive of survivors and knowledgeable of the reality of domestic violence.
At the event, people can come up to the mic and share their personal story, a published piece, a poem, a song or any other spoken word regarding domestic violence. SAVE understands this is a difficult subject to talk about, so participants also have the option to submit their story anonymously through an .
Everyone (survivors, friends and the general community) is welcome to attend. In addition, refreshments from Dave's Cosmic Subs, Panera and more will be available.
