Women鈥檚, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program welcomes new co-chairs

杏吧视频鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences has announced two new co-chairs for the : Ananya Dasgupta, assistant professor of history, and Megan Swihart Jewell, senior instructor in the Department of English.

Dasgupta specializes in modern South Asian history, with research interests spanning colonialism, nationalism, religion and modernity, and cultural histories of capitalism. In the classroom, her interests focus on both modern and pre-modern South Asian history, as well as women鈥檚 histories in the region. 

Jewell is a scholar of 20th- and 21st-century American and British poetry and a core faculty member in the WGSS program. Her research and teaching interests include feminist activism and literature, body image and gender, and working-class literature.

鈥淚n our new roles, we are very much looking forward to increasing the visibility of WGSS among our students as well as collaborating with the increasing number of amazing faculty at CWRU who work and teach on issues related to women, gender and sexuality,鈥 Dasgupta and Jewell shared in a statement.
