The Capstone: Transition to Residency course is a required, two-week culminating experience for graduating medical students at ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ School of Medicine. This course is designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate medical education and the first day of residency by providing intensive, hands-on preparation for real-world clinical responsibilities.

Students participate in simulation-based training, small-group workshops, and interactive sessions focused on high-stakes scenarios such as managing critically ill patients, responding to pages, performing basic procedures, leading interdisciplinary teams, and navigating end-of-life care. Additionally, students are exposed to expectations related to their new roles as resident teachers. The curriculum emphasizes professional readiness, systems-based practice, and critical decision-making.

By the end of the course, students complete an individualized learning plan highlighting opportunities for knowledge or skill development based on their self-assessment during the course.  Full participation is required to graduate.
