Esther Bernhofer, PhD, MA, RN, PMGT-BC, an associate professor at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, received the American Society for Pain Management’s Margo McCaffrey Excellence in Nursing Award at the organization’s mid-October conference. This national honor recognizes a nurse who demonstrates outstanding leadership, innovation and advocacy in pain management, as well as a strong commitment to advancing interprofessional collaboration and promoting collegiality within the field.
Bernhofer was selected for her exemplary contributions to pain management practice and education. Her work emphasizes evidence-based approaches to patient care, thoughtful communication and the integration of compassionate, patient-centered strategies. Through her scholarship and clinical leadership, she continues to elevate standards for pain management and support improved outcomes for individuals experiencing acute and chronic pain.
