ӰƵ School of Dental Medicine Dean Kenneth Chance (DEN ’79) has been appointed to the National Dental Association (NDA) Strategic Planning Committee, a new council tasked with guiding the NDA’s direction and vision through 2028.

The NDA is long recognized for its commitment to promoting oral health equity and supporting underrepresented communities in dentistry. Pursuing this cause, the NDA established this committee to develop a comprehensive strategic framework that will strengthen membership, expand outreach, and enhance the association’s national impact.

“This is a great opportunity to help inform and establish goals and drive strategy for a bastion organization that has contributed so much not only to African Americans, but to all people in the field of dentistry,” said Chance.

In his new role, Chance joins a select group of leaders who are shaping the organization’s next chapter under the leadership of NDA president-elect Wallace Bellamy. Committee priorities include increasing membership, enhancing engagement with recent graduates, and broadening the NDA’s visibility among adults and seniors seeking access to dental care.

“We need to use our resources and experiences in the best ways to build membership, provide benefits to members, serve our communities, provide health fairs, transportation for those seeking oral health, and align with corporations and governments to do so,” Chance added.

The NDA’s strategic planning initiative follows the association’s 112th Annual Convention and marks a renewed commitment to inclusion, collaboration and advocacy in oral health. The final plan, expected in 2028, will serve as a living document guiding the NDA’s mission for years to come.
