The Office of Energy and Sustainability recently honored faculty, staff and students who excel at making the university and greater community a greener place to live and work with Sustainability Champion awards. 

The CWRU team led by Professor Xiong (Bill) Yu received the first prize in the 2024 Intelligent Water System challenge competition organized by Water Research Foundation and Water Environmental Federation.

Tumi Adeeko, a second-year PhD student in materials science and engineering, received support for her company from the Veale Institute.

Yidan Gao and Yushu Cheng, both advised by Dr. Huichun (Judy) Zhang, have both received a 2023/2024 ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry C. Ellen Gonter Award.

Growing up, Zach J. Patterson had a number of engineering role models in his life, most notably, his grandfather. Paired with an interest in math and science, pursuing a career in engineering made complete sense.

Sarah Berger, fourth-year civil engineering student, recently earned second place in a national structural engineering competition hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at their Forensic Engineering Congress in Seattle, Washington.

Sam Root’s interest in knowledge of polymers started in high school. His father worked in the flexographic printing industry and after school, Root would head to the plant to do quality control.
